God loves teenagers. We do too.

Whether it is the uncertain 6th grader moving into middle school or the senior in high school staring down his or her next steps, we're here for it. We love this phase and we don't want to miss it! We believe that loving God and leaning into the purpose-filled life He has for us can be life transforming. We also believe that we aren't called to go on that journey alone. Our student ministry is a place where students (6th-12th grade) can come to explore who they are in Christ, connect with friends and adults who will cheer them on, and learn to love life.

Weekly Gatherings

Sunday Night Youth -

We gather most Sunday evenings to play some games, eat some snacks together, and take time to start our week with a Bible study or series. Middle schools students gather from 4-6 p.m. and high school students gather from 6-8 p.m. This is our less formal gathering of the week, but is a valuable time for students to connect with God and each other.

Wednesday Night Small Groups -

All of our students gather most Wednesday nights from 6-8 p.m. to hang out in their small groups. We start the night with dinner and a game. After that, our students lead worship and we head to our large group time for our message that evening. Afterwards, our students break into their small group for discussion.

If your student is interested in joining us or you have further questions, please contact Jess at (812) 232-4808.

Other Gatherings and Events

Milkshake Monday -

We gather most Mondays at Chick-fil-A for Milkshake Monday from 4-6 p.m. It's an informal hangout time where students can chill or bring homework to work on while enjoying some time with friends.

Monthly Events -

We plan an event almost every month to hit one of three core areas - fellowship, discipleship, or service. We are committed to helping students love God, love others, and love life. These events might be weekend retreats, service projects, or outings to encourage community among our students.

Summer Trips -

We plan 2-3 summer trips that focus on service and discipleship. Typically, these include mission trips, wilderness trips, or service trips.

Our Small Group Leaders

Each week, we have a dedicated group of adults who show up in the lives of our students each Wednesday night. These dedicated volunteers go above and beyond to shine the light of Jesus into the lives of our students. If you're a parent, we encourage you to reach out and connect with your student's small group leader. Create a relationship with them. They will be an encouragement and support for you and your family.

  • Jess Berryhill - High School Small Group Leader

Jess is our Student Ministry Director and one of our high school small group leaders. She loves a good adventure and has a legendary 11 hour road trip playlist. She has served in student ministry for 11 years.

Why I Serve as a Small Group Leader: "Students are some of the most real and raw people I know and to do life with them from week to week and year to year is a privilege. Their ability to make your heart burst with pride and make you laugh until you cry within minutes of each other is one of my favorite things."

  • Rick Strickland - High School Small Group Leader

Rick is one of our high school small group leaders. He has been on several trips with our student ministry to Guatemala and is known as our student ministry Apple guru. He has served in student ministry for 9 years.

Why I Serve as a Small Group Leader: "Coming from a rough background growing up, I never really had a positive role model to help me find my way out of the dirt. My goal is to be there for youth during not only the good times but also the bad times. I hope by sharing my story that I can show them life can get better by brushing the dirt off and that Jesus really can change your life when you let him wash over you."

  • Travis Hale - High School Small Group Leader

Travis is one of our high school small group leaders. He enjoys working out and has run the Indy Mini. He is our longest serving volunteer and has served for 13 years.

Why I Serve as a Small Group Leader: "I serve because I remember the impact my youth leaders made on my walk with Christ in high school and I wanted to share that experience with the youth that we serve at Mount Pleasant."

  • Warren Roberts - High School Small Group Leader

Warren is one of our high school small group leaders. He can fix just about anything and is instrumental each year in helping us host Chocolate Kickball. He has served in student ministry for 4 years.

Why I Serve as a Small Group Leader:

Why I Serve as a Small Group Leader: "My life has been impacted by adults who poured into me and my faith has been strengthened in ways that can be credited to those adults. I want to do the same for the few that I'm leading and loving."

  • Missy Burton - Ms Girls' Small Group Leader

Missy is one of our middle school girls' small group leaders. She enjoys hanging out with her cats and discussing all things Harry Potter. She has served in student ministry for 8 years.

Why I Serve as a Small Group Leader: "I serve because I have a passion for showing young people who they are in the eyes of Christ. Our world is bold in its negative message. As a Christian I strive to be bolder, openly sharing His love and speaking truth into our youth." #msgirlsrocktheworld

  • Jason Rankin - MS Boys' Small Group Leader

Jason is one of our middle school boys' small group leaders. He enjoys doing home improvement projects and making dad jokes. He has served in student ministry for 5 years.
