CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

MINISTRY STATEMENT:
MTP Kids’ Ministry will be a place where kids have the opportunity to see God for who He is, see themselves the way God sees them, and love others the way God does. “Love God. Love People. Love Life” will be the principles that drive all areas of this ministry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professes and demonstrates a passionate faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Leads a life of vibrant discipleship and models a healthy balance between God, self, family, and ministry.
- Must be able to demonstrate abilities in recruitment, equipping, and training in ministry.
- A college degree with a minimum of 2 years church leadership experience is preferred, but other combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge and skills for effective ministry are also acceptable.
- Exceptional people skills: listening, communicating, developing trust and rapport.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Social media abilities essential.
- Is organized, self-motivated and able to motivate others.
- Ability to work in and contribute to a team-based environment utilizing the development of goals and objectives with strategic planning.
- Is comfortable working with and relating to a wide range of people from children to mature adults both inside and outside the church.
- Prioritizes “equipping others for ministry” over “doing ministry personally,” by mentoring and discipling leaders and others.
- Is comfortable and knowledgeable with different models of ministry and strives to provide ministry that is relevant, dynamic, and Christ-centered.
- Is committed to adopting and teaching Wesleyan/Methodist theology and practices.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Must be personally growing in a relationship with Christ and able to lead others in that journey.
- Will develop, promote, and oversee year-round programming for children (birth thru 5th grade), their families, and the larger community.
- Agrees to confidentiality regarding church, staff, financial or other sensitive information or issues with whom she/he interacts with on and off the job.
- Will recruit, equip, develop, and provide on-going support to leaders and other volunteers. This includes calendaring and scheduling.
- Will partner with families in providing kids with a solid foundation of Biblical knowledge, connections with other families, and opportunities to serve and love others.
- Will ensure that opportunities for the care and/or discipleship growth of newborn thru 5th grade will occur on Sunday mornings.
- Effectively responds to and follows-up with inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
- Must work within financial guidelines as established in the yearly budget process.
- Committed to the safety and security of children and volunteers by following all guidelines provided by Safe Sanctuaries and other child protection policies, including performing background checks for every volunteer prior to serving.
- Provide excellent communication practices to keep all parties informed and updated. This includes all-church communications and social media outlets.
- Willing to participate in training and continuing educational opportunities.
- Ensures partnerships with appropriate schools and other community organizations.
- Attends weekly staff meetings.
- Some weekends and evenings will be necessary depending on planned programming schedule.
- Works with the Trustees to ensure that the Kids Ministry Area is in good repair, clean and sanitized, child friendly, and welcoming to all.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports directly to Lead Pastor
- Evaluated by Lead Pastor and representatives of SPRC/Leadership Council
- Minister to children and their parents
- Supervisor and mentor to ministry volunteers
- Works closely with the Student Minister, especially in the area of transition
- Active encourager to the congregation of Mount Pleasant UMC
- Team player with the entire staff

PRESCHOOL TEACHER
POSITION TYPE

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates a professional image in speech and actions that represents Christlikeness and the purpose of the church.
- Have the health and physical capacity to stoop, climb and lift. Can observe and interact both visually and audibly with toddlers & preschoolers.
- CPR/First Aid certification training required. Background check with fingerprinting required.
- Effectively responds to and follows-up with inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
- Is detail oriented and able to organize, prioritize and complete the administrative duties of the position effectively and efficiently.
- Agrees to confidentiality regarding preschool, staff, financial or other sensitive information or issues with whom she/he interacts with on and off the job.
- Understands the value and importance of excellent attendance and maintaining consistent preschool hours. This role must be flexible about the schedule at times if the need to change arises.
- Responsible for understanding the operation of all preschool equipment and repair needs.
- Is able to provide leadership, vision, and passion for MTP Preschool that is in line with the overall vision and mission of the church.
- Exceptional people skills: listening, communicating, developing trust and rapport.
- Is organized, self-motivated and able to motivate others.
- Utilizes volunteer staff and appreciates that working with and training volunteers is different than working with paid staff.
- Able to discipline children in a manner consistent with a Christlike character.
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
- Is willing to attend training opportunities as necessary.
- Views the position as a ministry as well as a profession.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Teachers work together in the classroom to plan and implement a daily schedule meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and social needs of children.
- Use the Connecteam app to clock in and out, ensuring an accurate accounting of time worked. Connecteam reports will go directly to the Preschool Director for approval.
- Provide a safe and secure learning environment for children as well as provide positive guidance and support to children and parents.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are clean, well maintained, and safe at all times. Clean-up happens throughout the day and after the students leave for the day.
- Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities. Communicate with families regularly. Produce information and materials to regularly post on social media.
- Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games, Bible stories and story time.
- Available to attend Preschool Leadership Team meeting as requested
- Take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, and staff.
- Ensure that children are supervised at all times in compliance with the MTP Church Child Protection Guidelines.
- Follow proper dismissal procedures to ensure the safety of children and families.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports directly to Preschool Director
- Evaluated twice during the school year by Preschool Director and Preschool Leadership Team
- Available to assist Preschool Staff and Church Office Staff
- Team player with the entire staff
